UBH WORLD — PRIVACY POLICY
UBH World (ubhworld.com) is a free browser game operated by Chaillan Publications, LLC d/b/a Unbiased Headlines ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what information UBH World collects, how we use it, and your choices. Your Unbiased Headlines account itself is also covered by the Unbiased Headlines Privacy Policy. By using UBH World, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
- Information We Collect.
- Account link. If you sign in, you sign in with your Unbiased Headlines account. We receive and store your UBH account identifier, and you choose a nickname and avatar. We never receive your password.
- Guest play. You can play as a guest without signing in. We create a random guest identifier and a session so your guest progress (coins, avatar) can be kept and, if you later sign in, merged into your account.
- Gameplay data. Your character's position and movement, play time and sessions, items found, coins, badges, collectibles and game scores.
- Reading data. The articles you open in the game.
- Technical data. IP address, browser and device type (user agent), and error reports from the game, which we use to fix bugs.
- Prize claims. If you claim a physical prize, we also collect your name, US shipping address and, where required, tax information (for example, an IRS Form W-9). You send this to us by email, not in the game.
- How We Use Your Information. We privately store your latest open-world game position, including for guest players, and a device copy so you can resume exploring after returning or a crash; this is not a movement history and is not shared with other players. We use this data to run the game, save your progress, keep the game secure, prevent cheating, verify prize finds under the Prize Terms, fulfill prizes, measure usage and advertising, and fix bugs. We use gameplay data, including your character's movement, to detect and prevent cheating, automation and abuse, and to check every Find, as described in Section 13 of the Prize Terms. Picking up a physical prize is protected by Google reCAPTCHA, which is subject to Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
- Google Analytics. UBH World uses Google Analytics to understand how the game is used. When an article opens in the game, our server also sends Google Analytics an "article read" event with the article's web address name, whether you are signed in or a guest, the
uvw_cididentifier and, if you are signed in, your UBH account identifier, so your reads are counted with your Unbiased Headlines activity. Google processes this data under its Privacy Policy. - Meta (Facebook) Ad Measurement. UBH World uses the Meta pixel and Meta's Conversions API, provided by Meta Platforms, Inc., to measure how well our ads on Facebook and Instagram work, including when you arrive from a Meta ad. The Meta pixel loads when you visit UBH World and records the page visit. When you read an article in UBH World, we send Meta an "article read" event both from your browser and from our server. Meta may receive your browser and device information (user agent), your IP address, Meta's cookie identifiers (
_fbpand, if you arrived from a Meta ad,_fbc), the page address, and the event itself (that an article was read and the article's web address name, or "slug"). We do not send Meta your email address, name, phone number, or UBH account ID. Meta processes this information under its own Privacy Policy and may use it to measure and improve ads. You can limit this through your Facebook ad preferences, or by blocking or clearing third-party cookies and tracking scripts in your browser. - Data Retention and Deletion. We keep raw gameplay data for 90 days; records of prize finds for 3 years; and tax records for 4 years. Guest data is kept only as long as needed to run the game. To ask us to delete your data, email hello@unbiasedheadlines.com. You can delete your Unbiased Headlines account at unbiasedheadlines.com/account/delete. We complete deletion requests within 30 days, except records we are legally required to keep.
- Data Security. We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), hashed session tokens, and restricted access to production databases. No system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
- Age and Location. UBH World is intended for users who are at least 18 years old. Physical prizes are open only to registered users who are 18 or older and US residents with a valid US address (see the Prize Terms). UBH World is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.
- Your Rights. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your data, and to object to processing of your data for advertising. If you are a California resident, you also have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, including the right to know, to delete, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. - International Users. UBH World is operated from the United States. If you access it from outside the U.S., your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States.
- Changes to This Policy. We may update this Privacy Policy at any time. Changes take effect when posted. The "Last updated" date above shows the most recent revision.
- Governing Law. This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States of America, without regard to conflict-of-law provisions.
